About the Candidate - Faiza Mokhtar

Faiza Mokhtar is a junior political science major. Faiza is very involved on campus. Her involvement includes: Loyolan Staff Photographer/ Opinion Writer – She has an opinion column titled “Short n Sweet”; ASLMU Technology committee; member of Kyodai; First Year Programs Office Staff member. Her involvement does not stop there, as a commuter student; Faiza is on campus… a lot. This has allowed her to understand the university and willingness to become involved on campus. Many of her friends joke that she is the “5th roommate” on campus because she is always around campus which stands true to her campaign slogan, “She’s everywhere you want a Senator to be.”

Everyone knows Faiza on campus as a friendly and an enthusiastic girl. She is that girl always saying hi to everyone and sometimes saying hi to people even if she saw them ten times before. She is shorter than most people on campus at 5’0”, but don’t let her petite stature deceive you; she has a big heart and always willing to help anyone and everyone.

Why Vote for Faiza?

From Faiza:

“She’s everywhere you want a Senator to be” is more than just a catchy slogan. I want to change the way people look at ASLMU. ASLMU is a student organization that is for the students by the students. I want every student to know that no issue is too big or too small for Senate to take on. How do we make this known? Students just need more access to ASLMU, particularly the Senate. Whether it is through podcasts of Senate meetings, 1 page spreads of Office Hours in the Loyolan, or implementing a robust online concern box/forum; it is essential to illustrate that Senate is willing to represent the students. Students at LMU have many concerns but without establishing the foundation of an approachable and accessible Senate, the pursuit of making LMU a better campus goes in vain. In the end, it’s all about accessibility, accountability and inclusion because for Senate, it’s essential.

A vote for Faiza Mokhtar will ensure that everyone at LMU will have a voice. Remember, she’s everywhere you want a Senate to be and she will never stop working for you! Thanks for all the support!

The Facebook Group!

Let’s admit it, everyone uses Facebook! No matter how mind numbing or obsessive Facebook, it has made its mark at LMU. Of course, Faiza has to have a Facebook group. Please join the “She’s everywhere you want a Senator to be… Faiza for Senate!” Facebook group. Everyday during the campaign period, we will update how many members strong. For example, “ ## Members Strong!” We want you to know that every member will make a huge difference in this group. The group is open for everyone to join, invite your friends to get the latest on the campaign.

What is [campaign swim '06]?

[campaign swim ‘06] is a nifty nickname for what Faiza denotes as the campaign period. The campaign period starts from Tuesday, March 14th and ends on Tuesday, March 21st. During the campaign week, Faiza will stop by club meetings and discuss why she is running for Senate (and really why you should vote for you). In all honesty, without you, the student, Senate cannot exist. During [campaign swim ‘06], Faiza will also your concerns about anything on campus because after all, this is all about you! Don’t worry; Faiza believes no issue is too big or too small to take on so she will be ready to hear your concerns.

Finally, club organizations can dive in by contacting her to make an appearance. Or better yet she will contact you. Faiza will not be limited to club meetings but she will be out an about during convo and throughout the week introducing herself to students. Just look for Faiza or Kat Soto (her campaign manager, yes she has a campaign manager) in turquoise shirts and they will happy to talk to you!
